Why does a retrofit make sense?
A retrofit increases the productivity of your machine and pays for itself within just a few months. The production capacity of your inventory machines is increased by the right automation solution, even outside of operating hours in unmanned/poor night and weekend shifts.
Another advantage is that you can continue to use programs that have already been run in with the retrofitted automation (certain program sequences and structures must be adhered to - e.g. DIN ISO, entry and exit strategies).
Can any automation solution be retrofitted to any machine?
An automation solution can be retrofitted to many of our machine types, depending on the technical design.

Is the year of manufacture of my inventory machines decisive for retrofitting?
Yes, but the age of the machine is not necessarily an exclusion criterion. The older a machine is, the more difficult it is to retrofit. Every automation solution has its own individual requirements. Older machines in particular have outdated software and hardware that is incompatible with the latest automation products. With the help of our compatibility check, DMG MORI can check which adaptations are necessary and whether these can be implemented on your inventory machine. In some cases, a conversion and a machine update are sufficient.
What steps are involved in a retrofit by DMG MORI?
DMG MORI's Global Service bundles all activities up to the final implementation: In addition to comprehensive advice from our sales department and a compatibility check, we plan all further process steps that are necessary for a retrofit. This includes software updates, conversions and machine modifications. You receive a comprehensive offer including all additional process steps. Once you have placed your order, our service experts will install your individual automation solution on your inventory machine within a very short time. You can use your machine without any restrictions until the day of the retrofit.
